Chrome OS

廃物利用でcloudReadyを実家に転がってたラップトップに入れてみる。
もともと普段からChromeで生活しているのもあって違和感なく使っている。
これでセキュリティの心配がないのだし、かなり良いような。

Create a world file for PNG(, which shows the entire globe)

Unlike Geotiff, PNG does not have information about coordinates of a image file.
This leads little difficulty to create a map tile of world wind.

To overcome the difficulty, we need to create a world file (extention .pgw), and the contents can be calculated with the following site:

In my case, I have a image which covers the entire globe generated by combining NASA's blue marble picture, and the input parameters are 90N 180W, 90S 180E, 83200x41600 pixels.

Putting the .pgw file, world wind imaginary and elevation installation program works, which I introduced in the past.

Open source OpenCL environment on Ubuntu 16.04

scientific linux 6の環境がようやく捨てられるので、ubuntu 16.04に移行。
とこｒが、Ubuntu 16.04はAMDのプロプライエタリドライバが使えないらしく、OpenCL環境をどうしたものかと思っていたら、ubuntuのレポジトリにあるものだけでとりあえずは作れるみたい。

apt-get install libclc-dev mesa-opencl-icd ocl-idc-opencl-dev
で必要なものが手に入って、
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libOpenCL.so.1 あたりとリンクすれば動く。

パフォーマンスは気になるけど、面倒じゃないのは助かる。
（ドライバに関しては、AMDが手伝ってるみたいなので少なくとも長期的には問題ない？）

授業終わり

ということで、採点まで全部完了しました。
初めての授業で、英語で、専門というわけでもなく大変苦しみました。

習ったテクニックを使って生徒さんにFacebookのデータを解析するプロジェクトをやったのだけど、ここでようやくコンピューターを使って色々やるのが面白いと思ってくれたようで、結果のプレゼンは私も興味を持って聞けました。

結果だけ見れば、丸く収まったといえるかな。。。

Xperia Arc (lt18i) with CM13

ということで、あんまり意味は無いけど古いXperiaもmarshmallow(cyanogenmod 13)にしてみた。

ちなみに、SDカードのためになんだかよくわからないアプリをインストールする必要はなくて、領域を開放するだけだった。上から順番にやってったから、よく読まずにインストールしてしまったよ。

快適、とまでは言わないけど、使い物になる速度で動く。すごい。
旅行できてくれた人用に持っておくのは悪くない。

Xiaomi's Redmi Note3 pro

Nexus5の代替として、XiaomiのRedmi Note3 proを購入。
はじめに入ってたRomが中華アプリ満載で、入れ替えようとしたんだけどどうもbootloaderをアンロックするのに正規の方法以外が通用しないみたいで諦める。
(ここを試したけどだめだった。http://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3/how-to/redmi-note3-prokenzo-guiderom-global-t3341102)
ただし、MIUI global verを入れるのはできたので、それを常用することに。
(7.1.8を入れて、OTAで7.2.3になった)
MIUI flash toolとかで検索すればやり方はでてくる。ただ、ADBのドライバを探すのに苦労した。

Format the internal storage of Nexus 5

My nexus 5 was dying probably because of errors on the internal storage.
(OTA upgrade failed because the downloaded file was broken, or WiFi did not work at all and died with OS.)
I almost gave up, but in the end I realize that TWRP recovery enables me to format the internal storage.
I have just tried and now it is working with WiFi.

Unfortunately, I have already bought a Xiaomi Redmi Note3 pro.
I will keep it for my friends' coming.

UbuntuでACML

GPGPUされたBLAS/LAPACKを手軽に使いたかったので、Ubuntu (14.04)でACML6.1を使う。

AMD A8-3850とRadeon R9 390という歪な構成ながら、問題サイズが大きければOpenBLASよりも速いこともあるようなので、まぁまぁ？ACMLの時はtopでみてる感じだとCPU使用率50%ぐらい。OpenBLASの時はもちろんほとんど400%

NexusのROMを再インストール

なぜだかは良く分からないけど、先週突然Nexus5のWifiが不安定になって使い物にならなくなってしまった。Wifiのon/offがOSからうまくコントロールできていないように見えた。
もう二年以上使っているのでそろそろ買い換えてもいいころではあるんだけど、もう少し待って食指が動くものを探したい気もしたので、何とかリカバリを目指す。

ファクトリリセットはbootloaderからだと失敗して、OSからは成功したんだけど、Wifiが不安定なことには変わりなかった。この過程で判明したんだけど、USB接続もおかしい。

結局Ubuntuに対してUSB接続の方法をいろいろ変えていると（MTPとかPTPとか）、PTPならつながることがあることを発見。

引っかかったのは、AndoridとfastbootではATTR{idProduct}の値を変えなくてはいけなかったこと。lsusbして確認してください。

Converting from the natural earth data raster images to NASA's World Wind tile is a bit complicated.
I guess one of the easiest way is use the demo program in goworldwind.org.

How to:
(1) Get the script named "InstallImageryAndElevationsDemo" and launch it.
(2) "Install" the tiff image of the natural earth data.
(3) check the directory "c:\programdata\worldwindinstalled" on Windows.
      (Probably you can do the same thing on the other plat forms)

"reject" to "major revision"

My article which has been "under review" such a long time was rejected one week ago. I believed the reviewer's comments were somehow unreasonable, and so, I wrote a letter to the editor who has been taking care of my article.

In the end, I have just received an e-mail from the editorial office, which says;

"The Editor has informed me that this decision should be reverted and you will receive a new decision letter shortly."

And the status of the article turns from "reject" to "major revision"

The editor's decision is not always 100% sure.

You should try to write a letter to your editor in some cases.

linux でEPSから余白なしのPDFを作る

latexでepsがうまく表示されないので、あらかじめPDFにしておくことにした。
imagemagickでeps -> pdfすると余白がついてしまうので、pdfcropを使って削除する。
一括でできるように簡単なshell scriptを。

I have bought a windows tablet, Cube i7, from So cube in Aliexpress, which seems a direct shop of "cube"(https://www.facebook.com/ACUBEworld/).

Unfortunately, they repeatedly say some illogical thing on my tablet and refuge to replace my tablet. I suggest you not buy their product if you do not want have any risque.
They never fix your problem.
Indeed, they started ignoring my e-mails, and messages from aliexpress.
